Introduction

is a collaborative printed matter project dedicated to photography. I anticipate the project starting as a blog, a space in which to share ideas, later forming a fanzine (a fold out A1 sheet). On the front a limited edition artwork (a poster) by an invited artist and on the reverse a collection of artists work supported by text, written by a theorist and short introduction, by myself, outlining the theme of the issue. I would like the fanzine to feature up-and-coming photographers work alongside established artists using photography as their primary medium. I would like the fanzine to be quarterly, later developing into a magazine, which will be bi-annual. ‘ODC’ will evolve as a ‘potential space’ (M. Klein) opening a forum for discussion and exploration directly relating to photography and its wider discourse.

will be a celebration of what is both light and dark, in every sense. It will be an in-depth look at what photography means and what it has become. It will take a look at its history and its position in contemporary society and discuss contemporary critical debate in reference to philosophy, psychology and the arts. It will be socially aware and politically minded. It will reflect sublime beauty and utter heartache.
